Mindfulness exercise: Impatience. Today practice noticing when you feel impatient. When do you feel a rush to get something over with? I noticed it yesterday when I was finishing up my work for the semester. Why are we all in such a hurry? Try asking yourself the question, “I get this done, and then what?” Do this each time you feel impatient. Keep asking, “then what?”. You may begin to realize you are in a hurry for no good reason. When we get in a hurry and we get everything done, consider we are rushing towards the end of life. So, I get graduate school done, and then what? I get into a position where I am able to help a great many more people? and then what? I retire? and then what? As we hurry, it may be good to remind ourselves we are rushing towards the end of life. In Buddhism, impatience is considered one of the three poisons. Impatience robs us of our now.
Today, if you start to feel impatient, drop yourself into the present moment. Feel your breathing and listen to sounds.

YOu could look at it like “rushing towards the end of life” but somebody in a spandex business suit might jog up to you and argue while running in place that they’re trying to get the most out of life.
I say there’s a time to hurry a time to rush, fuck conservation you should always flush.

I have all the patience in the world, but Immortal Pirate is a different story altogether. When it came to the moment we decorate the Pirate Ship for Christmas, he said, “Let’s just string one string of lights on it from bow to stern and — that’s it.”

My thought was, “Why not wad the lights up in a tight ball and shove them up your……” but I didn’t say it. I had to relate to him how I love to see the whole boat decorated. I knew that I would be the one to do most of the work and only need him for the high parts of the top of the sails and mast-to-mast. I don’t have it finished, yet. We still have angels to mount — shoving the masts up their —- um —- dresses. Then I will take a picture or two.

When it is decorated and the table next to it is set for dinner, then what? We will eat our meals next to a lovely Christmas Pirate ship and enjoy it —- that’s what.

my job is so fast paced and time sensitive that i have to really remind myself to slow down with the moments that allow it. i am still rushing around even when the room is empty and the job is done. and then i wear myself out and have to slow down want to or not. definitely need to relearn the art of single tasking and slowing down when i am able. of patience and calm
But there is so much to Doooooooooooooooooooo :D

@BelleMadre I used to think I was good at multi tasking but now I have realized I was deluding myself. Humans weren’t meant for it

    Probably…
    Most likely…
    Have been accused of it…
    Maybe…
I have my doubts about the validity of some claims…
As an immortal, patience is an every day normal thing, but occasionally, I like to fuss and act impatient just to throw people off…
