Deadpool is the most beautiful of all the superheroes out there today, though I do have to admit, if it were “Deadpool vs the Crow” I do think … well, I am not going to tell you what I think on that.

Like Ozymandias in the Watchmen, love him, hate him, Deadpool does all the hard work and gets the job done. Unlike what we can say about all the other super guys and girls who got their collective asses handed to them by Thanos.

If you were a superhero, wouldn’t you feel burning jealous of Deadpool?

Rhetorical question, because of course you would not. Just look at the guy. He’s in the flesh. He isn’t missing all of those bullets like Luke Skywalker in Star Wars. He is taking them.

But, he gets through it all and keeps on going. And worse of all, he is having a good time doing it.

My point is, if you go by the outer person, and that is the race you are running, then you know how that ends. Everyone is going to die, so why even run that race at all?

But if you are running the race of the inner self… then you are not going to be jealous of those who do more work then you. Because that work is for you and their winning, well, you win right along with them.

If you could be any superhero you wanted to be… would you really choose Deadpool?

“With great power comes great responsibility”. Yeah. Well, for Deadpool that is insanity and a gift that really hurts.

What if Deadpools’ insanity is really sanity and he is “just ahead of the curve”? (Ala, Heath Ledger’s Joker.) (Only not a dick.)

(The Joker role he played. Not the actor.)

But, pretend for a moment you are a superhero and these scenarios in the “Marvel Universe” are all real. What superhero are you?

And would you be jealous of Deadpool?

(And no, I am not Deadpool. And yes, I wish I were. Kind of. In the real world, I would be arrested in a flash for going around and killing a bunch of innocent civilians just to make some damned movie.)

(And, no, I do not really wish I were.)

(But I really love that “Angel of the Morning” song. Damned. )

(If Deadpool’s powers really had Domino’s powers, too, well, that would be good. Then, I do want to be Deadpool.)

(And, yeah, newsflash Morty, he does have Domino’s powers. Might as well rip that band aid off right now.)

Nah, I would choose The Flash if we are talking of any superhero, Marvel or DC. As for Marvel, I guess Quicksilver would work. Nightcrawler doesn’t seem too bad either. Hell, I’d probably even pick Spider-Man. I wouldn’t be jealous at all. Being nearly invincible is not something I’d care to be. Still being able to feel the bullets hit and the chronic pain of all of that cancer in your body while not being able to die… No thank you.

      @Yin Hahaha, heh. :-)

Yeah, the Flash came to mind after I wrote that. The new special effects *they have finally got to in later seasons* is … *perfect*. I like.

They did two snippets of that with Quicksilver, then? They killed the guy off, when they should have based a movie on him.

      Likewise? With the Flash.

These are the best scenes there are.

Time is frozen, you can be as if multiple people at once. Get out of any jam, fix anything.

But… Deadpool also effectively has that ability in real time. Hence, his first appearance, with the swords slicing all the bullets and accurately fling them back at the bad guys… time slowed down so we can see it. Best scene, hands down, that was in that movie.

In fact, what was Deadpool 1? Basically just an extended version of the teaser trailer. Which was all … uh, forget what they call it right now. [Slow mo.]

Okay, Deadpool can freeze time like Flash and Quicksilver. Effectively. Only he doesn’t have to see it that way. He can totally not give a fuck. He has the same ability as Domino. Super accuracy. And Flash and Quicksilver. But, without having to run around and do all of this stuff nobody else sees.

      Hmm…

I could want to be all invincible and not feel the pain of having my face gnawed up like a pizza that fell on the ground, not feel the bullets hit me, not get cut in two, not blow myself up and then have to regenerate my whole body… but.

      It wouldn’t be *as fun*.

There’s no drama without the pain. There’s no comedy without the absurdity. No gain without the risk. Come on, we all feel pain.

Wouldn’t it be good to always know, no matter how much pain you feel… no matter how bad – or even what kind it is – things will always be okay?

Hiro (Heroes) was pretty good, though. I give him that.

@five2one Yea, they killed Quicksilver off a tad too quick. I didn’t know much about him other than he runs fast similar to Flash. Apparently he can run at Mach 10, so I’d be fine with that as long as it doesn’t come with the destruction that would happen in real life.

NIghtcrawler tearing though the White House in that one X-Men movie was also a thing of beauty.

Yo-Yo is another character I came across recently since watching Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. She has that kind of speed, but she reverts back to the spot she started. Good for in the moment things but not to get somewhere. Awesome character though.

I usually just got with the Flash since I know him the best. I know the kinds of speeds he can reach since he can time travel. He can move through objects. He can create tornadoes. He is a fast thinker. His speed basically gives him super strength. The Speed Force typically allows him to run without damaging his surroundings. He is kind of overpowered.

I’m ok when the pain stops. If that means death, then so be it. Life isn’t the basis of my own well being. It is the pain. Probably why I am fond of more agile, evading kind of heroes. Teleporting, super speed, spidey-sense. I guess I could choose some super overpowered hero though like Captain Marvel, Blue Marvel, or The One Above All but that seems like cheating really.

        @Yin Nightcrawler was awesome. :-)

Yeah, we do have pain, inner pain. Being able to heal from that is the superpower. That superpower is love. “Love overcomes all”.

Deadpool has some brilliant symbolism I adore, though it is all just a story. Living forever but losing the one person you love and the one person who loves you. Living forever without anyone ever seeing your face.

Beautiful people that the world can not see.

Shrugging off everything people normally would not. Complete obliviousness by the standards of the world.

Having the hope they do not have.

The thing about hope is you know you can share it.

Shouldn’t Christians already be superheroes already? There’s a verse where Jesus is talking that states “better things will you do than i have done.” According to that verse…
    – local bars should be going out of business. Remember BEFORE his ministry started, Jesus turned water into wine
    – doctor’s offices and hospitals should be a thing of the past, as Christians should be able to heal everyone
    – the feeding of the 5000 (women and children besides) should look like child’s play
    – Christians should have an “avatar” mode (e.g. the transfiguration) see “avatar, the last airbender” cartoon.
    – if you include things from the old testament, armies that oppose christians should be able to be defeated by the 10 plagues of egypt.

@Jear77 “Shouldn’t Christians already be superheroes already?”

Nope, not until Jesus comes back. Right now the ‘will the Son of Man find faith on earth when he comes?’& ‘love will have grown cold’ maxims remain true.

      Obviously.

Faith means faith in God and so the testimony of Jesus… but, faith also means the ability to use your imagination in a non-“double minded” way, so as to be able to do what can be done. To effectively do miracles.

You have too much confidence in your own, non-evolving understandings of science and religion to make any progress, though I have some hope in you. After all, your zeal, though ignorant, is passionate. And you are a nobody in the world.

But, that brings us to *Love*. I never see you actively concerned about anyone else other then your own self. Easy to do in this technological world where it is so easy to fulfill your body’s needs for entertainment.

The fleshly body, however, while a perfect vehicle for ‘faith, hope, and love’, is absolutely terrible in being prone to error. Be that intellectual and moral error, or be that simply the extreme proneness to physical ailments.

You need water, you need food, you need friends in some manner or the other, you need shelter, you are trivially prone to physical pain and death, and so on.

Yet, for all these very reasons, the flesh is the perfect training vehicle for the new, imperishable flesh.

Probably way too much light for you, but I am taking a leap of ‘confidence in you’ just for a moment. And it was really all just that last part.

@Jear77 You can have Jesus at anytime, and in having Jesus, you can have God. But, right now, no go. The next life happens at anytime, but nobody but a very few actually really want it.

Yeah, it is metaphorically “up there”, but Jesus, the Prophets, Revelation, all say this is coming here, on earth. Really quite clearly.

Still, this is just the best way people can think right now… though it is quite disconcerting to me people think they are going to “literally” fly up into the sky.

It is literal, though, too, in the sense that you can fly. The metaphors have to be real in your heart. How can one fly in one’s miserable, crummy life? By taking off away from them, and then looking down and attacking from above.

Oddly, people totally get these things when they are sung in songs, but when you try and use it without the music, they just want signs.

I think you love your life in this world too much to have the next world in your heart. Right now. You have to change that and search for something else.

@Jear77 Yet, you make no movement to trust people and believe what they say. Which is the only way to have a better life. No movement otherwise will do so.

        You are *making your stand*.

But I have your lack of trust against you, so you are not going to get anywhere.

Like Jonah in the sand, angry, unable and unwilling to move.

Or, maybe like Elijah in the cave: not this one, not that one. You need someone else. You want God Himself to come down from Heaven so you can express your anger to Him.

@five2one at one point maybe i would have wanted that. But i’m so far past that it’s not even funny. In terms of trust, don’t forget that when people communicate, they bring their own history and agenda, so what may be plainly obvious to them, the other person may have opposite experiences and agendas, so even a person with completely transparent motives may have more going on than meets the eye.

I do forget that, in order to operate in role, with the given settings of that role. Now, you just broke character.

Don’t get me wrong, I talk to the fourth wall all the time. One reason I like the Deadpool character so much right now. But, I do that in any role, depending on the role being played.

This is real live theater, not something staged, per se. Breaking character is often a way to talk to the fourth wall. Others do it, as well.

A trick with that is to cover it up again as quickly as possible. I am telling you.

This is why it can be so difficult to judge people. Because circumstances can be so complex, and there can be information even the Devil does not know. Especially as he is locked out of Heaven now.

I say this because he is still at work in the world, and can attempt to accuse people based on too little information. Which is the problem with his old role, in the first place.

@five2one uhm… i meant when i thought i was a Christian, which i am no longer. The word for such a person is an apostate. But even if there were a god who could claim any sort of goodness, one who came to me in all its glory, with the heartache, problems, and evils of the world, i’d tell it to go shove off. I’m not interested in a god that sets the rules, expecting us to follow them without guarantees. You know the joke “doctor, doctor, when i raise my hand like this it hurts.”? Well god, if it exists, set up the universe in such a way to not only guarantee itself hurt, but literally every living thing as well. And it never needed to create anything to begin with. With that as the base, such a diety should be seen as stupid, malicious, and evil.

@Jear77 That comes off as really whinny and ignorant, to be blunt.

“The Christian word for me is ‘apostate'”: No, it is not. You are not a Christian well versed enough in scripture to make such a determination.

On God, many ways to answer what you are saying, but I need questions, not ignorant pontification to do so.

I do the same thing, sure, but I am usually open to corrections and new ideas when I do so. From history, you are not.

‘Before you go to the altar, go and make peace with the one who has anything against you’… I, actually, do not have anything against you my own self. You could have something against me, I do not know. Feel free to tell me if that is so.

I am also jobless. In my case, I know these rules, the gospels are the rules. I know for me to get a job, I have to humble myself, sit on the lowest seat.

I am about to do that where I need to do it. I have felt a need to do that here, as well, in my response to you. Not sure where else I may feel such a need.

With you, I can not take you at face value. Because of my weird world. You could be an angel of God or Job resurrected for all I know. Or who knows who. But, the important other ingredient is, as I have often said, you show unusual goodness at times. As for your complaints, they are not unreasonable if that is so.

        Probably is so.

@five2one the problem with rules… they’re meant to be bent, broken. And besides, doesn’t it also say that “everything is permitted, but not everything is beneficial?” If it’s permitted… of what use is it saying that they’re rules?

“Rules are meant to be followed, that’s why they are rules,” from Deadpool II…

Yes, we worry, yes we get caught up in the concerns of the world, but the Spirit of Faith brings the words of Jesus to mind, and we believe Jesus so it goes away. We believe Jesus because the Spirit of Faith proves it to us within our heart.

Your second comment makes no sense in this context. Believing God on these matters is what provides results, why would anyone not want to believe that — if they could??

@five2one the citation is 1 Cor 10:23. Amplified puts it this way “All things are lawful [that is, morally legitimate, permissible], but not all things are beneficial or advantageous. All things are lawful, but not all things are constructive [to character] and edifying [to spiritual life].” I say that benefit is in the eye of the beholder.

@Jear77 To believe that God will look after you is not a “rule meant to be broken”. To know peace, instead of being choked by the worries and desires of the world is what the Spirit gives us.

Not to worry is a comforting reminder designed to open the door to miracles.

@five2one The only miracle I want / need is to be so incredibly wealthy that I never have to work another day doing anything i don’t want to do. That’s not to say I wouldn’t work. I would. I’d work on getting healthy. I’d work on my writing. I’d learn what I want and not worry about the fact that I’m taking time to do so, as I’ve got to get up tomorrow. If I want to sleep in, I can do so, and no one will naysay me. I’m 41. A million per year of my life, after taxes, lawyer/ accountant fees, and any other type of costs associated with the obtaining of said money should suffice… and a million per year thereafter, with those same stipulations. The tax system and legal/ financial system is so complex that it would take something along the lines of a god to be able to provide that an amount that exact.

Money could not buy the sort of resources used in these matters.

Not sure what on earth I would do with a million dollars a year, that is not a healthy goal to have. I do not believe you love money, but maybe you do, *and* are smart enough to know you should not. So, have given appearances otherwise. Plenty do that.

Neither would it just sit in the bank.
I would create and sell art.
I would be involved in real estate.
It would be making me more money in the stock market.
And the money would go to developing “tiny house” housing programs for the homeless.
I would have a team of advisors who would be backed by their own advisors on various topics: law, business,
I would be able to take more time to take care of me.
This “plan” i outline here only scratches the surface of the extensive plans i have made.
