Where is your favorite place to go when you need to think, find yourself, relax, calm down.

Why is it your favorite? What makes it special? Have you ever told anyone about it or shown/shared it with anyone?

When I was in high school, I used to like to go to the duck pond at the park here in town. There’s a big pond on one side and a smaller pond on the other. I would sit on a bench at the small pond where there was one lone duck just floating around making noise. I’d relax there.

When I was first able to drive, it became my car because I could be alone, but I could move. So I would drive around to the backside of town and what not, turn up the music and zone.

Now, I just kind of stay home. lol

@fosheet naw that’s around the corner from that pond though. That duck was probably protecting it’s nest somewhere nearby, I just didn’t realize at the time. hehe

For me it is nature, and just about any nature would do. I prefer someplace with lots of trees and one or more bodies of water, though. I tell people through photographs. I take pictures of the places I go so I can live it over and over again.

is it better not to write it down, not to take a picture and simply experience the moment fully as it happens or is it better to capture the moment so it can exist again and again timelessly?

@Scarlett I think some way to capture it is important, but not to over capture it. Meaning not live the entire experience behind a screen or a canvas or a notepad.

Just the other day I was describing a place to Immortal Pirate. The subject of Casa de Amparo (House of Protection) , the state run shelter where children taken from their parents are housed while awaiting court trials for the parents. This one is located in San Luis Rey, California. Anyway, when a child became unruly and in need of “time-out”, the Nuns sent the child to sit for 20 minutes at the edge of the Coy Pond. You can’t be upset anymore at the Coy Pond. The coy fish are of all sizes, some as large as a foot long. There is a waterfall and lush greenery all around. I have never seen so many gem quality rocks and stones as that pond had. It was truly magical. It was calming. I would visit the pond when I volunteered at “Casa” and whenever I was in Fallbrook, the neighboring town. I would listen to the waterfall blending in with the laughter of the children as they played.

When I was a kid, I would climb up on the roof and the whole world seemed smaller to me from the rooftop perch.

I used to go to Redondo Beach (California) and walk out on the pier. There was a pelican that would land there and loved to be fed and petted. He is at 1:17 on this video of my happy place. You can forget your cares walking on the Pier.

There is a place I go for contemplation, to relax, and let go of all the toxic stuff…

…then I flush, wash my hands, and then leave.

My favorite place, well there’s 2. The first one is, where I mentally go when I need a moment. My grandmother has a garden and it has a little goldfish pond and some benches, I’ve grown up in that house and in those gardens. That’s where I find peace. Even in meditation.

My actual favorite place that is a city is New Orleans, anyone who knows me and has gone into the crescent City with me says they see me in a whole new light. I am a different person there, it radiates through my body.

This time last year I went for school and had to stay a few days, so I decided to be a tourist. I’m rarely ever a tourist there because it’s home. But on my adventure I went to have my tarot cards read by two different people, because I was on a mission of sorts. The first lady told me all kinds of stuff, but the thing that chilled me to my bones was about the city I love. She said that my blood runs deep in the city, she can see the light and the love in my soul for the city, my past lives have been in that city and I have the deepest connection to that place that she had ever saw. The next guy I went to said almost the exact same thing, but with much less eerie detail, he said you’ve been here in more than one life, this has always been your home.
