For any topic, any situation, is any alternative truly better than another in the grand scheme of things?

IIRC, that saying came out of the mountains. Someone stands on one mountain meadow amidst all the rocks and weeds and looks across the valley to the uniform lush green meadow on the other side. But once they get there, they find it is rocky and weedy, but the meadow they left to get there looks uniformly green and lush.

The theme of it is that one should make the most of what is and what one has rather than waste their life dreaming about what isn’t and what one does not have.

Who knew (in regards to the origin)

The problem is making the most doesn’t get one ahead in life… or at least not typically. On the other hand, I have seen all too well how acting as if one has more money in life than they actually have is problematic.

What I’ve seen is that the positive mindset over time is the thing of value — that then leads one into more and more positive experiences. With the reverse true for the negative mindset of always looking across the valley for something better — and arriving there to find it has it’s own set of disappointments to overcome!

Which doesn’t have to preclude having goals one reaches for. It’s more a balance of not letting the dreams of things unrealized keep one from making best use of the things of value one has before them. Even if that value is currently seen as meager.

And yes, realism has to factor in — as in not living beyond one’s means and thinking that this will somehow “attract” the means. This fails because the mindset of living on resources not yet manifest actually attracts more instances where one is invited/required to live on resources not yet manifest. The hole grows deeper. Or at the very least, the dream (hope) uses up resources that could be better applied to one’s current situation.

And you would be right that this has tie-ins with how many try to use religious faith in pretending-into-existence, something that they really don’t really have.

It’s only greener on the other side because of all the bullshit that goes on over there to feed it.

Envy usually subsides when you get to know a person well enough that they’ll share their struggles that we never notice, while ogling their stuff, that we want.

Frankly, my life is really, amazingly, incredibly good.

So, yeah. The grass is greener here.

I do not just have extraordinary knowledge, hope, and life (immortality), but insane creature comforts which accompany these. And based on evidence, I might add. Evidence you do not have, of course. Evidence then world does not have, of course. Though, part of my hope and knowledge is being shown the longer term plan, and how simple it is. So, I know that one day, all who live will be as I, and even greater.

You can judge me based on inaccurate evidence and presumptions as you wish, but that does not matter. What I am saying is true, and I realize it everyday, through the day.

It is sad, because technically, there is as nothing between me and everyone else. But it is as an abyss one can not see. If anyone could believe my own story, they could have what I have, but it is far too unbelievable for anyone to believe without seeing what I have seen. Even the trivial details require firsthand hand evidence.

While it is true, first, one must have heard, and on hearing they see the things Jesus says is true. But, for the full scope, they must see.

So it is a man can even raise from the dead, but if they do not believe Moses and the Prophets, they will not believe even the dead coming back to life.

In some situations the grass can really and truly be greener on the other side. Taking the risk involved to really see if this theory holds true is usually what holds us back from taking the leap.

I think that while anyone can be fully satisfied with their lives, there is always some aspect that can be improved upon. So the greener side will always be there.

It’s probably greener. But things change anyway.

I think that we all have a theme and it follows us wherever we go, even if that is to the other side. I think that until we figure out what our theme is, the grass will never be greener. We have to change ourselves before we can change our circumstances.

    its perspective, right?

do we want to sit around soaking in negativity and envy, or focus on what you do have?
you know? maybe even try out what ever it is you think you dont have that looks better, to realize you were fine without?
i like the idea of trying things out. i dont want to miss out. so i would rather try than imagine im missing out and in fact miss out
but i dont think that the alternative is Going to be better

ok maybe im rambling now, its been a while and im loving all the prompts!
