Or is it the only way one can say, “Pain and suffering, dissolution of my dreams, death of my loved ones, the annihilation of everything into Cosmic chaos and the eventual heat death of the universe . . . but Hey! It’s all worthwhile!”

Maybe the delusion is what makes your passage miserable and sinks your boat, rather than what keeps it afloat and makes the journey awesome?

Can you still do “awesome”?? Or just miserable? Which is the “delusion”? Or at the very least, the best delusion!?

One can search… yet one is not guaranteed to be able to find.

And even if one does find, it doesn’t mean that they’re not delusional.

There’s an appropriate saying “just because they’re out to get you, doesn’t mean that you’re not insane.”

Human beings are uniquely gifted in being able to find what we seek.

If we arrive somewhere we don’t want to be chances are good our aim was off. (Or our frame was not a good one. Or our map of meaning was insufficient.)

If what you find doesn’t cause your ship to sink and conditions generally improve over time, it is probably not a delusion. (That’s true in pragmatic darwinian philosophical and behavioral models).

Try restating your appropriate saying without the triple negative and I’ll give it some thought.

@griz I sought a job for 20 years. Aim has nothing to do with it, or so little it’s less than nothing, particularly if ANY of these people were christian. If something was SO seriously “off” – either about my presentation, my resume… literally ANYTHING about… me why didn’t ANY of them say “y’know,.. it’s really NOT my business to tell you how to live your life or present yourself or try to get a job… BUT you need to change X,Y,Z in order to get hired.” And furthermore work with me, maybe until they themselves could use me in their company… or present me to others who might need my services (and don’t cound my friend… working with a person for 15 years hardly counts with the abuse I’ve put up with from him). One of the “sheep/ goats” things could say “For I was JOBLESS and you gave me the tools to get a hired.”
Though it’s strange… with so many people seeking immortality in this life (ignoring the possibility of it being elsewhere)… regardless of aim, why hasn’t anyone found it yet? We have tales of the philosopher’s stone (and not the Full Metal Alchemist version either). According to the science of getting rich, should what we desire be unavailable, we can put our wills into the formless thought that everything is based on and it would be formed. And who wouldn’t give anything… everything to have such a thing? (Though it also says we could ALL have houses as large as the White House if we followed its ideas perfectly, and discounts the idea of animal extinction didn’t occur to the author… so some parts of is message are suspect to say the least)

Aim and targeting have an awful lot to do with it: especially in concert with sought-after skills.

And what does people being Christians or not have to do with you getting a job???

An employer telling you what you need to change to get hired is like a gift. They are in no way obliged to give you this information. And how we deal with this gift is often a kind of test for willingness to be trained, or being able to effectively run with a presented problem to an effective resolution.

It is really nobody’s job or obligation to present you to others. Remember that a good interviewer is hyper aware of dropped clues and body language; and perhaps even specifically trained to weed out applicants with unrealistic expectations of others.

It is not somebody else’s job to give you the life tools to succeed. They can show us where to find them and how to develop them and then the rest is up to us.

I think you need to burn that book!

But an observation from a friend, presuming you truly do want things to get better You expect others, all the way up to and including God, to do the things for you that you need to do for yourself to achieve the kind of personal accountability from which success of all kinds, comes.

And when others don’t do this for you, all of the fault is on them. And then bitterness and resentment take you.

Money will not help you put yourself together. Put yourself together first and then the money will likely come.

@griz i have skills, accountability aplenty… yet not the money that comes from such. I guard BILLIONS of dollars worth of art. Should I fail spectacularly enough, the ENTIRE world would be out to lynch me.

Accountability has to include sufficient accountability for ones current situation, to be motivated to do something about it.

Otherwise we are just children waiting for someone else to come and take care of us.
