Should a waxing professional be forced to offer the same services for a trans man who identifies as a woman, as they currently offer to women? Namely, a Brazilian wax?

I don’t believe that a professional waxer, that has a business waxing only females, should have to wax the balls and pubic area of a male that identifies as a woman. It still has male genitals and the professional waxer objected to handling male genitals. I can understand how she could find that offensive. I think it was too bad that she could not simply refuse to do it, rather than having to give up her business altogether.

By refusing the service, isn’t the worker being bigoted toward the trans community? Isn’t the worker not validating or affirming the experience and feelings of the trans individual?

If a trans woman, who is now a man, gets pregnant and has a baby, the news says “The world’s first pregnant man has a baby”. If the world looks at that and says, “That’s a woman, men can’t have babies,” then that comment is labeled hate speech.

How is this situation not similar? How is the worker’s refusal not a hateful action?

@Weenis Perhaps it is a hateful action. However, if the waxist does not want to handle male genitals, she should be free to have her own feelings about it. It is an awful situation that she was in. Having to get out of the business just to stand firm on her dislike of the situation is very sad. Here in America there is freedom of speech and freedom to be offended. A business should not be forced to perform an act —- slathering hot wax on male balls and pressing cloth in the hot wax and quickly ripping out all the hair, if they find it offensive. The business owner has a right to her feelings, even if her feelings seem hateful. We have freedom of speech, even hate speech.

@ladybarbara I shouldn’t be forced to procure services from a monopoly funding politics I believe adversely affect the world. Break up Amazon and ISPs to stop funding the NRA and FISA bullshit. A business should have every right to deny a baha’I organization services based on ideology right? And I have every right to deny emergency repair services to a church because it refuses to marry the LGBTQA community? How would you feel if the waxing professional is male and is only handling female genitalia out of perversion and avoiding balls out of homophobia? Do we want to promote perverse motivations for occupations? And no, freedom of speech does not cover hate speech scofflaw judiciary picker.

@Squirrel This is America where we have the freedom to believe as we believe and to be homophobic if we are homophobic. The case before the court is a WOMAN that does not want to give service to a male pretending to be a female. There is no “what if”.

@Weenis and you think my balls don’t deserve waxing? Honestly my primary concern is the jerk doing a shitty job and making my balls infected and itchy. Malicious compliance is still compliance. Even if it’s legal the waxist doesn’t have to do a good job and can express their bigoted disapproval with performance. You don’t have to wax his balls, he doesn’t have to repair your church or fund bigots with his dollar. Have you ever considered the world would be a better place if transfolk were treated as the human beings they are instead of as subhuman freaks as pariahs less touchable than ’80s AIDS patients? Trans women of color are the demographic most likely to die of homicide and are the group most victimized by hate crimes. Maybe letting them get balls waxed will humanize them enough that they’ll feel validated enough not to remain the leading demographic for suicide as well? Namaste to you bigot.

Professional waxers already do men numbskull. Have you gotten one done on your forehead to fit in with those skinheads your ideology runs with?
