Well, its been a rough couple years. It seems like we, here on this site, became divided. The United States became divided, and we followed suit, like lemmings who dive over a cliff. However, just because we don’t always agree on everything doesn’t mean there is nothing to be grateful for. A therapist told me once, “you have to accept people exactly the way that they are”. I am not sure that this is completely true, but we can still like those we don’t agree with. Sometimes, I think its okay to put certain topics to rest and realize we can’t talk about those topics with certain people. And, I think it is important to accept and respect boundaries, and not try to force a discussion on someone who doesn’t want it. in any case, what am I grateful for, a list:
– every time I tell an in real life person that I was “talking to immortal pirate and lady Barbara , I get a giggle because of the user names
– I like reading lady barbaras stories
-I got to watch the love story of immortal pirate and lady Barbara unfold
-Griz’s nuggets of wisdom scattered
– conversations with yin- I read that the ability to have a deep conversation with someone enriches our lives
– Jear’s questions- even tho I don’t always answer, I read and appreciate they are there
-fosheet for coming home
– Mama Joy’s nostalgia, she made this site for her and us. Thank you!
I miss all the others; spitfire, super momma, luftballoneygouge(I appreciated his humor sooo much)whatever happened to basilnova? St Charlie. Would be nice to see 2thrash again.
So, ya know, maybe I am feeing nostalgic because the holidays are near. Remember when it was Christmas morning on soul pancake and Spitfire nominated me for question asker of the year? ha ha, fun times!

I am thankful that you , Scarlett, have the opposite political views, but never get on the attack, or name-call me for being on the opposing side. I like your questions and when I get on here I search for what you have to say.
I am thankful to Grizz for his sage advice and wisdom. He can really give his answers a lot of thought while driving.
I never had many conversations with Yin. He seemed to be so youthful that I could not understand his generation.
I feel for Jear77 and sometimes catch a pearl of wisdom from him.
I thank Mamajoy for creating this site with Eric. I miss Eric and his humor.
I feel sad that Spitfire left. I miss his posts and miss his solid knowledge.
I love the dry humor of Luftballooneyegouge, he had some zingers that floored me.
Gina must have given up her fight, she always had to come ready for a battle. I don’t miss the attacks.
Nothing was more entertaining than the wars between Gina and Weenis, I could see Weenis’ boyish grin in his answers.
As for Immortal Pirate, he is right here with me and we talk about the topics on SoulSequel.
All in all, SoulSequel does fill that void left by the closed SoulPancake forum.

I am thankful for everyone I have ever conversed with on this site, even those I disagree with from time to time. I miss those who have left the community or were driven away by someone they just couldn’t get along with here. I’m sure that I was probably a thorn in someones side, but admittedly, I guess I’m the kind that likes to stir the pot from time to time. All in all, this site will always be a good place to vent, a place to converse on current event, and a place to entertain myself.

    Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Even if small, it’s a good community.
And it’s something special if it can overcome the tribal political polarization happening in the States, unto a respecting of others even if they have opinions we might not agree with.

I see people all around in society growing more and more isolated either in themselves or in ideological echo-chambers where they no longer have to think and consider opinions other than those they feel “safe” with.
But it is within these isolation zones, that depression despair and even atrocities flourish.
I value that we have a community here where most people don’t block or flee from the group just because of something they don’t agree with.

    Just an update on Thomas.
I’ve still not been able to track him or his family down since Hurricane Harvey. Does anyone remember the name of any of the construction projects he was active on? That’s an avenue I’ve not explored.

I love this site, been posting, off and on, since 2010, obviously, including the original ‘soulpancake’ there. I like everyone here, though I detest Trump, so I avoid those conversations. Still, everyone has ‘salt’, so it is a great place to get a wide variety of very divergent opinions. It is not that I find I agree with everyone, but that they are usually willing to argue their perspective in a reasonable manner.

It is a bit of an oasis, where I can be closer to the real me, without feeling that I have to put on airs, or write and speak in certain ways.
