Two well known actresses and a slew of other elite have been indicted in a college admission scheme which alleges they paid to get their kids into affluent educational institutions? What do you make of this? What should happen to the people involved? Should they be punished? should the students be expelled?

    3. the journalism, I saw, played it up way too much. *Yawn*.

So what if they want to spend 3 million to get their kid into Yale?

What is Yale, anyway? Who cares.

@five2one I think it further highlights the disparity between the economic classes, so much that goes on that isn’t noticed…

@Scarlett2 Longer term problem to fix, but core problem. Rooted to the worst problem of global disparity. Something like anyone who makes over 30K or 50K – I forget the exact number – is the global 1%.

Watching for flying pigs and hell freezing over because, for once, I totally agree with five2one on this one.

I am sure some of the students are really pissed off at their parents. They were just getting established into the college they did not deserve to be in. Their grades were not good enough and they were not the athletic marvels that their parents were making them out to be via faking pictures. The coaches that went along with this should be fired. Buying your child’s way into a college they did not work to get into is unfair to the kids who worked hard and did not make it because an entitled brat cheated to get in that spot.

What gets me is the parents who cheated to get their child into California universities. What the hell??? They wanted scholarships that much better kids work hard to earn. Why not just pay the tuition and get their kid an apartment near the college??? In the long run, after all the court costs and fines, it would have been cheaper to pay the whole tuition and put their kid through college. After all, it is a cheesy California college.

I worked my way through college with a full time job. When I ran out of money, I took a break to build up the bank account to do another semester. I paid for my college education as I went. I did it while holding a full time job, raising a family, and keeping a husband happy. I did not party. I kept my nose to the grindstone. Maybe that is why I am not a party person today. My life was serious and intense.

I saw that some of the students and kids only wanted to go to this or that college just for the parties and drinking. They were not interested in learning, or working towards any educational goals. Entitled brats!!!

They deserve to be expelled. The parents deserve the fines and court costs. Whatever punishments the courts put on them, they deserve. Let the kids learn by this. If they want to go to college, work for it.

What kind of world is this coming to? People think that cheating to win is better than putting in the work to win.

@ladybarbara I was on what is known as the “quiet” floor in my dorm for hard core studiers. I paid my way through college then, and again now. You are right. it is not fair for those of us who worked of it. Who is to blame, though? are there several parties to blame?
