Can what appears to be the worst thing, end up being the best?

Can what appears to be the best thing end up being the worst?

Has this ever happened to you? How?

    Absolutely.
And a lot of it seems to be a function of both our definition and discernment of “best” and “worst”.

There are many many times when I have thought something is in my best interest — yet hindsight revealed that it was not. Some ready examples are getting involved with drugs, and staying in a job long after there was abundant hand-writing on the wall and I was finding myself more miserable than fulfilled.

There are plenty of times when I thought something was a total catastrophe (such as an arguably illegal lay-off), but Spiritual assets enabled me to flow with it and end up with a new career, totally paid for by grants and bursaries, AND a year’s wage in my pocket (they called it severance pay, though they could of legally dodged it), hoping that I wouldn’t make waves.

A big part of this is personal philosophy and attitude — things that a Spiritual underpinning assists with greatly. But there’s also been far too many indications of “something” assisting me when my attitudes are properly aligned and I’m making the right “sacrifices”. In my experience, too many to just ignore.

And as soon as I noticed this and as open to it . . . it increased!

Even if this is just a delusion, it manifests reliably over and over again as a highly-specific and demonstrably functional “delusion”.

Though I suppose I could just be a big fan of “highly-specific, repeatable, demonstrably functional delusions”? It’s something I can and do live very comfortably and triumphantly with.

@griz what do you do when this happy-go-lucky philosophy fails? All it takes is a single mistake, miscalculation, or area where you ‘go against the grain’ and your life can be changed forever in permanently negative ways. As you age things will get more difficult, as you become more and more set in your ways. The world will have moved on, leaving you in the dust. Aches and pains will set in. You won’t be able to do as much as you once were. This is not a matter of if, this is a matter of when.

If it fails, I examine “the foundation” it was built upon.

If the existential travails of “common reality” drive me to bitter complaining and resentment, then “the foundation” was not sound enough. In your case, you have categorically proven that religious ideology is an insufficient foundation.

And to mix some spiritual philosophies, if I choose a sufficiently-sound foundation I will not have to “spend energy” to keep propping my “house” up; and will have sufficient “transition energy” at whatever moment this temporal physical existence might be “recalled” back into the greater pantheon of Life.

@griz it’s not whether or not you complain… it’s more that these are the inescapable realities of this life.

As they are inescapable, a foundational philosophy that leaves us with complaining as either the only or the best option available, is a failing philosophy.

Because complaining leads to bitterness if “”someone else”” doesn’t do exactly what we want when we want: which leads to resentment toxifying the spirit: which leads to vengeful and even murderous thought; and by then a person is screwed even if they never manifest violence openly against anyone other than just themselves.

@griz not really. You can pretend you’ve got everything under control, but if you don’t say anything at least to your doctor, s/he won’t be able to treat you appropriately. And stubbornness in that area may lead you to an early grave.

The only thing we control and are called the control is ourselves.

Fate and doctors say and do as they will. The ultimate freedom is in how we respond to what comes our way: unto life more abundantly or unto bitterness and resentment that corrupts the soul.

Where does the Logos ever say that it is by our power?

I think that may be part of the Marxian disconnect. That idiot ology at its base is all about the totally intrinsic power that we wield.

The power of Christ is an intrinsic housing of an extrinsic power. There are both “inheritance” and “competency” factors at work in its exercise.

I’m exploring that option to good effect.

It’s less a remote “plugging in” to the servicing of ourselves, than a participation in a greater miraculous whole. Knowing what needs to be done in that moment for the greater whole, means one is empowered to do it.

Even if it lapses into the miraculous.

@griz i see a discrepancy and disconnect here. The point is irrespective of how it’s accessed, due to the power being used, those with that power should be superheroes

@griz power is power ultimately. It’s no different than fire or electricity or water or plasma. If it’s not harnessable, and there everyone who wants to use it has to play “mother may I” but the person who’s in charge of the game never gives up the role, there’s something hugely wrong… and makes the power useless not only at an individual level, but at the level of mankind as a whole.
A god who won’t grant his followers super powers to use as they see fit that is something like a psychic vampire who feeds on worship, leaving his followers drained in time, money, and emotional resources. No thanks!

@griz that what you accused me of is the very game the god of the bible is playing! This is the same god you worship. He (and the devil) are playing A chess match that was won before a single piece was played. And all that could have been avoided if god simply didn’t create the devil. So don’t accuse me of that without having told god to look at himself in the mirror

That’s only one way to look at it. The most dire and pessimistic, geared to enhance victim hood process.

There are other ways to represent it. But one first needs to escape the aforementioned process.

BTW, my intention is not to accuse.

The Bible is actually universally clear that God is Spirit. Other texts from beyond the Judeo Christian tradition appear to agree

What is the mindset of spirit?
Or is it just the flesh that has mindset?

While we are working with non-corporeal ideas, my supposition remains truer to the greatest body of texts. This is an elevated form of truth-seeking, based on a broader foundation than just opinion and assertion designed for no purpose greater than trying to justify what one thinks they already know.
        (Ideology support).

God is the Spirit of Life so it is the Spirit of Life in us that is made in God’s image: not the mindset of the flesh: which you’ve already in essence agreed is irrevocably tied to death. And I agree.

Likeness maps down from the greater to the lesser. Adults don’t inherit the traits of their children, but the reverse.

The arrogance of trying to map ourselves up onto God, is what excludes any hope of transcendent Spiritual fellowship.

We are still just presuming ourselves the highest deity.
And each person can only have one highest deity. (The first commandment, Which is less an edict, than just an articulation of this fundamental reality)

@griz kinda goes back to the philosophical idea “i think, therefore i am.” But we don’t even have proof of the entity thinking here, in any way that is remotely provable except on an individual level. And for every “success” you can show, reality will show you a million or more where it didn’t pan out.
And as i said ad nauseam, i wouldn’t want such a thing. It goes back to my statement of “all or nothing.”

Well, the tall mesquite tree was overgrown onto the neighbor’s property and on the roof of the house. Something had to be done. I got out there with a tree trimmer, but some of the branches were too thick to cut with a trimmer.

The best thing would be to call the tree trimmers to cut off just a few limbs. They said that they would send out a “team” of 4 men to trim the entire tree. The starting price for the job is $400.00. (!!!!!) The last time that “team” came to trim the tree, they left it so bare that it was skinny and ugly. I don’t want that to happen again. Our tree is the tallest and fullest in the neighborhood. So, the best thing is the worst thing to do. —– Sure, Immortal Pirate could relax and play on facebook and watch TV, while a “team” of men make our tree into a big fat stick. —— NO!

The worst thing for Immortal Pirate, is really the best thing to do. We will go to Home Depot and I will buy a big extension ladder and a chain saw pole trimmer. Then, Immortal Pirate can climb up the ladder and saw off the big fat limb. —— Sure, it will cut into his facebook/TV time, but in the end, he will have a nice extension ladder and a chain saw pole trimmer —— for next year and the years to come. For me, that is the best. For Immortal Pirate? Well, he gave me the “look”, as I made him go to Home Depot and select an extension ladder and the chain saw on a pole. In the end, with the right tools, he did a great job of sawing off several limbs.
As for cost? Less than $270.00 —- but we have the tools to repeat the job over and over for the next 20 years.
I can just imagine the look on Immortal Pirate’s face as he reads this.

What was the best thing for him was the worst thing in my opinion. What was the best thing to do, and cost efficient, too, was a sweaty work out for Immortal Pirate.

But he did a great job. BRAVO! Immortal Pirate! The hero of the day!

The real aggravation of trimming the tree was not the actual work involved, the real aggravation was the lack of customer service we received at Home Depot by store employees that didn’t seem to want to do their jobs.

Job, ‘do not take me down to the world of the dead, where light is darkness and darkness is light’.

Perhaps a better word is “the after life”.

I spent years struggling over my friends of the past and current after reading the Bible in my early twenties. This includes people I consider friends, but I never have met face to face.

They, like my own self, appeared to be evil. But, in a deeper part of my heart, away from the standards of the world, I knew they were not.

Eventually, I was finally helped, and woke up to the fact that they were not as appearances made them out to be. No small part of that journey included waking up to the fact that I myself was blinded by the standards of the world. The simple fact was, I was left out, and did not have enough information.

Yet, in this struggle, as I was beginning to wake, I started to see in my memories and reflections, that I did not act as if they were evil. And I started to see the good they were doing. That is, in a deeper place in my heart then where I was residing, to get by in the world, I really knew all along.

The roots, that is, went deep. The foundation was strong. Even if I had to tear down and build up again, just to tear down and do it again. Until what came up was as if on its’ own, not at all unlike how a tree grows. Something on its’ own, naturally.

@Jear77 You can be my Morty and I will be your Rick.

Jear, I got to tell you, the world is confusing. Answers don’t come easy. I don’t know what you need, and nobody else does, either. I gave you what you needed, but if you don’t understand it, think about it. Ask a question.

What you want is the Wizard of Oz. You don’t want to be in Kansas. Fuck Kansas. Look for Oz. Find out you are in the Matrix and make your way to the real world, outside of the computer. The Zion that needs the Red Pill.

Don’t be like Cipher who sold out the Zion for the Matrix.

In the Matrix, you can’t see the real world. The real world is not the Matrix, but if you find the real world, then you can master the Matrix and have every super power you can imagine.

Plain English: We of Heaven have been talking through movies, music, and books since the sixties. Obviously, not every movie, book, and music. And the light is not all that bright, as if you get too much light you will freak out. Like coming out of a cave and being blinded by the light.

How do you talk to people if they don’t have the ability to speak your language. How can you tell them that all they need is a spitgibble and flabbergaster, when they have no idea of what a spitgibble and flabbergaster is? You even have to make up words just to try and explain it to them.

Plain english: There is way, way more out there then you can know. Humble yourself and stop putting certitude in your ignorance. The times are dark and the world is in Night. They are asleep. We are the thieves in their dreams. We have hacked their minds and for us, the dream is all under our control. If you want to be able to wake up, you better find out that we are not of this world and can save you from your nightmare.

The sun is coming pretty soon and we morningstars can help.

But not if you keep refusing the hand we give you all night long.

(Unless you have changed since the last time I was here. Why are you posting? You want to tell people about your personal pain in the world and how wrong we are? Or do you actually want answers from people who really have them?)

Well, I hope that is sincere. You certainly sound more happy these days. I do not know what change has come upon you. I know, for me, there is gold in words. But, you have to believe in people, and listen to what they say.

I spend all day going over what people are saying, and find in that way gold. Everlasting gold. But, not everyone.

You have to reason with the gold from words. Remove the dross. I am not saying to to be wishy washy, but to carefully go over it.

You have to check the sources. Who am I? Am I an evil person? Am I cursed? Am I a bad source?

You may not need anything at all, from me anyway. I just sing my weird songs, anyway.

There is a ton of positive possibilities offered via the media streams of music, movies/television, books. Has been for years. This is a big, ongoing project behind the scenes.
