Can any of you listen to another person’s point of view, even if 180 degrees from your view, and accept that that person is rational and sane, and their thoughts are their own and it’s OK?

Or is what they say completely irrelevant to any discussion you want to have, so they are dismissed as wackos and should be considered dangerous?

I can listen for about a half hour, but then I get bored with the attitude, if the other person is disrespecting me, and then my listening has an off switch. If that person is filling the air with word salad and will not allow me to get a word in, then my listening toggles to off. After a half hour, their words become whah-wah-wah like Charley Brown’s teacher. I pull back and listen with the view that mainstream working Americans of the heartland of America will not accept this and vote for it. I will not vote for it. I know how I will vote and the longer the other person rants, the clearer my picture of my vote becomes in my mind. You see that the other person’s ranting of the opposite view is just that —- ranting of words. I know that when it comes to voting, that is just one vote.

I don’t judge others to be not sane, or of any danger to me. If the other person is tauting about wanting to shoot up the place, and kill people, then I will take those words seriously and we have a police force that can handle that.

When it comes to “The Green New Deal” then I think of how most people in America are NOT going to vote to omit jet airplanes, omit cows, knock down and rebuild every building and house in America, and have mass means of traveling, or bicycles. I just sit back and know that the plan will not get the votes it needs to become any kind of reality. I don’t need to think horrible things about that person. They are just getting their news from news sources that are trying to convince a “sheeple” society that “The New Green Deal” makes some kind of sense. They can rant about it all they want. Ranting is just words in the air. When it comes down to what actually counts in this land —- it is votes. That arguement will not change my vote.

The worst I have said about some people is when I turn to Immortal Pirate and say, “What if you would have chosen her, instead of me?” and what if he had to have a woman in his life with that kind of leftist view? I am comforted to know that he would show her the door and hope it doesn’t hit her in the ass on her way out. I don’t need to think horrid thoughts about her, I won and I know my place is right here.

@Tits McGee There are no other topics of life where conversations result in disagreements.
